With an extensive family history of cancer, Carissa developed a keen curiosity about health at a young age that would later shape her professional and academic pursuits. She graduated from California State University Channel Islands with a BA in Communication in 2014 and began her career in mental health direct care in Asheville, NC in 2015. She would later move on to senior leadership positions at two local non-profits before transitioning into freelance content editing for several medical organizations in 2021. Her professional life has laid a solid foundation of communication and administrative expertise that she is thrilled to be putting to use at Elemental Health. As she is currently pursuing an MS in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, she is looking forward to the opportunity to work more closely with our practice members to help them discover a more personalized, sustainable path to health and prevention of disease.

Elemental Health is a business birthed out of deep respect for all of the inhabitants of the earth—people and planet. I will only partner or recommend companies whose missions and actions are rooted in socially and environmentally conscious manufacturing, production, and investment. Choosing as many locally sourced products that are wild or organic is ideal. We work with organizations who protect our natural resources by not over-harvesting plant medicines and food in the wild, controlling the growth of invasive plant species, and supporting agricultural biodiversity in order to sustain valuable ecosystems.
